I was selected to be the representative of my school to perform in Pertandingan Pidato Bahasa Melayu in conjunction with Hari Mekar Bahasa dan Sastera (2012). There are 2 rounds of competition, and I was chosen to be one of the finalists. I was trained and guided by my respective teacher, Puan Hariyati Yassin. She taught me a lot in terms of delivering speech, controlling the tones, and beautifying the intonations. I learnt about eye contact, body language, and how I stand in front of the audiences. It was really helpful. I became more energetic, productive, and mindful about how I am attracting the audiences.

   I remembered that I have put certain elements of arabic idioms in my pidato passage. Everyone was mesmerized and impressed with my ability to speak in arabic clearly. Well, I learnt the idioms in my arabic class which was taught by Ustaz Hamdi bin Hamid. I gave him high respect due to making me fall in love with arabic subject. The audience even can notify me in the second round that I am the “pemidato bahasa arab.”
