SPECIAL TASK (2018)

Inspire Club, IIUM is one of the societies that I get involved in. It focused on exploring the problematic students’ attitude, experiences, skills, and abilities. This club has conducted many programmes with problematic children. One of them is Mega Friends Inculcations of Ethics and Development Skills. We chose Sekolah Bimbingan Jalinan Kasih (SBJK) students to participate in this programme since they are our regular clients since 2016. We approached SBJK because we want to know their progress in terms of their thoughts, understanding, skills, and attitudes. Our aim is to make them a ‘somebody’ in the future even though the citizens looked down at them.

Hence, in this program, I was selected for a special task. I initiated the new idea of merit for students who have won the competition and followed the rules. What I did is, each group would receive a handmade passport and sticker if they got merit. Those who get more merit, their group is the winner of a promising group. Why do passport? With the rationale of a passport you can fly wherever you are. Same goes to if you have achieved more merit and abide by the rules that the committee has implemented, they are going to be someone with a high-quality individual in the future. I also initiated the culture night for this programme in which our aim is to explore the talents, abilities, and skills of participants. We found out that all of them were competent in music, acting, and singing. They were skillful in the arts, Subhanallah.
